New for 2007

This past 6 months has been such a blur, starting with physical ailments before Japan for myself, to a physically demanding trip to Japan for the whole family, to switching to a new bedroom for Eli (because he figured out that he is no longer held prisoner by the crib) to now sleepless nights as we wait for final baby molars. I'm thankful to God that He's kept us safe throughout this crazy 6 months and I think we are near the end of the tunnel.

So what are we up to these days... well there's a lot of talking, singing, and reading from Eli. Everyone marvels at how much he seems to know and how much he speaks in short sentences, but we just smile and try to keep it to ourselves. We are just sitting back, watching his growth and enjoying the ride and trying to keep up with his various interests. Once in a while he'll open an often read book and start reading out loud himself and I'm thinking to myself I better break out those Hooked on Phonics lessons soon. We're still planning on homeschooling our kids, but we don't need to officially start registering with the state until age 6, so 4 more years to play..yeah..:p I'm still waiting for his terrible twos to come, (he's not quite 2 yet) but I'm not so sure they'll really come now... he's only being assertive and domineering over the dogs...he lets them in and out of their crates. Can't wait till he can walk BooBoo, then we're all set!

Calvin had been working on a very important Cisco project for about 2 years now and just before we left for Japan, the project was kicking into high gear...and he spent many hours at work and at home working diligently to meet the deadlines. God has been very gracious to us through his work and providing all that we needed. Things are calming down a bit now and we enjoy having Daddy home for dinner at a normal hour.

As for me, life seems busier than I've ever been while working. What am I doing in addition to chasing around a 2 year old? Well the one thing I've committed to and have enjoyed very much is BSF (bible study fellowship) every Tuesday. We are spending the whole year studying the book of Romans... my goodness, never read a book so rich and so absolutely vital to every Christian's life. Besides that I'm serving at our church, learning to discern peoples needs and meet them quietly and humbly. (my goal at least, God's still working on me on that). Then I'm starting a book club among some friends on a book about how we wives can make our marriages marvelous. Then on top of that, I've fallen in love with growing my own vegetables in the back yard. After two years of so so harvest in containers, I'm going down to the ground. I always over-plan I know, but so far I've got more than a dozen veggies planned for the Spring and Fall seasons...many of them are chinese veggies... I can't wait and hopefully Eli will be right there to help me fend off the dogs.

Well as you can see, we've got a crazy busy life... thanks for sharing it with us...
